Stephen J. Nicholas, MD, founder of NY Orthopedics, is a recognized authority in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine. After graduating Harvard University and receiving his MD from New York Medical College, he was a resident at the Hospital for Special Surgery and a fellow in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital. Over the past three decades, Dr. Nicholas has dedicated his career to treating athletes of all levels, including the New York Jets and New York Islanders. He has extensive experience in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery including minimally invasive operative techniques for repairing knee and shoulder injuries, total joint replacements of the knee, hip and shoulder and non-operative treatment of injuries. NY Orthopedics is a group of 15 physicians with nine offices across the Tri-State Area. Members of the practice have extensive training and experience in the treatment of sports injuries including foot and ankle, knee, hip, upper extremity and the spine.
