Dr. Mark Ashamalla is a board-certified radiation oncologist with expertise in thoracic, gynecologic, and genitourinary cancers, as well as advanced treatment techniques including stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy. He serves as Chief of Radiation Oncology at Episcopal Health Services and as an attending physician with Advanced Radiation Centers of New York.

Dr. Ashamalla earned his undergraduate degree from New York University and graduated with distinction from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Albany Medical Center and his residency in Radiation Oncology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently joined Stony Brook University Hospital as Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology, where he chaired the Clinical Competency Committee and co-chaired the departmental Quality Task Force.

His research has been featured in leading medical journals, including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology • Biology • Physics, Cancer Epidemiology, and the Journal of Oncology Practice. He has authored multiple book chapters, presented nationally at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and received the Radiological Society of North America’s Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award and the Brokenshire-Forsythe Award for Best Original Scientific Paper.

He manages both malignant and benign conditions and is particularly focused on integrating radiation therapy with immunotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals, as well as advancing innovative technologies that enhance outcomes, affordability, and quality of life for patients.
