Dr. Ibrahim Elsharkawi is a triple-board certified medical biochemical geneticist and pediatrician, and an Assistant Professor at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. Dr. Elsharkawi completed residency in pediatrics and clinical genetics at Washington University in St. Louis, followed by a fellowship in Mitochondrial Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He then completed his clinical training in medical biochemical genetics from Harvard Medical School. He is passionate about taking care of patients with mitochondrial diseases, other inborn errors of metabolism, and Down syndrome. Dr. Elsharkawi is also actively involved in basic science and industry sponsored clinical trials pertaining to mitochondrial disease.
