Dr. E. Bruce Toby specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery to include nerve, muscle, tendon, and joint problems. He performs microsurgery such as free tissue transfers of soft tissue and vascularized bone. Dr. Toby’s orthopaedic training was at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and was followed by a hand and upper-extremity fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Toby is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and has an added qualification in hand surgery. He has published more than 30 papers in peer‑reviewed journals and continues to actively participate in research.
